God bless....what can that possibly mean?

Image
When we say or hear someone say, "God Bless You," what do we think we're doing? What will happen?  Or who is this God?  And what is blessing? I guess that getting a "Blessing"is receiving some goodies from God.  This could mean that God who has been busy either not giving blessings or has not been giving blessings to me and others until it has been asked for is is now persuaded to impart blessings--  Wealth, love, opportunity, health, better conditions, relief from pain, free tickets. But for a deeper understanding of blessing,  let's go to a famous source, the one who started off a bunch of sentences with the line, "Blessed are the...."--the Beatitudes from Jesus' "Sermon on the Mount." For example, "Blessed are the simple, (used to be called "meek") for they shall inherit the earth." Now, to me, that sounds like a mixed blessing, because if I inherit the earth, well....then.....I'm responsible for it....

Don't Take 'Yes' for an answer.

Image
Too short.  Yeah, you want an answer that's got some ongoing-ness to it.  "Yes" is great, but it's over too soon. Way shorter than an orgasm, even, and that's always a good answer. No, I wouldn't take "Yes" for answer. I'd want answer to be more like, "Whatever you want."  Wouldn't that be a cool answer. Or, "You're never wrong."  Wow, that's a dynamite answer.  Just count the syllables--that alone qualifies it as an answer for the taking or, "You get to decide."--Now, that's a hellava answer, ain't it? But if you have a short attention span and can get by on answer snacks, then "Yes" is okay.  It'll do in a pinch. But one more thing--the reason not to take "yes" as an answer is because no answer, no matter how good it is, can be taken.   After all the very best answers aren't taken.......they're shared-- that's what makes them .........expert answ...

What to do with your love for Jesus

Image
Tonight is the first night of Passover and the celebration of "The Last Supper"--Good Friday (a religious icon if there ever was one.) It was the last meal Jeshua shared with his apostles. It is a good time to reflect on Jesus' purpose and the symbolism of this event.        Passover and the Last Supper are both about becoming free.  Free as a people, thanks to Moses, et al, and free as an individual, thanks to Jeshua, et al.       I see Jeshua's life as an invitation. An invitation to find freedom in wholeness.      Jeshua is in fact an invitation sent by God--source of all Being-- to join with the rest of reality and work for the betterment of the whole--actually any "whole" in which you find yourself, starting with your self, to make the whole of you more aligned and integrated--body, mind, soul and spirit.       And then work toward the same integration for any system in which yo...

HAVE WE GOT A DEAL FOR YOU!

Image
I'm always trying to get a good deal, which means-- get as much value as I can for as little payment as possible. My mother was considered  a good shopper.  Like her, I am a good shopper.  I can get good deals.      Just imagine all the jubilant conversations going on during the time you're reading this blog, where people are telling each other about the really good deas they just got. You can practically see their eyes lighting up.      "My first divorce cost me over $10,000, I got a really good deal from my lawyer as a second timer. He's only going to charge me half that.  Almost makes we want to get married and divorced a couple of more times.  Think how much money I'd be saving."      But when I realized that God* was offering me a Good Deal, I stopped to ask if the deals I was so compulsively driven to get were really the best deals.       I attrib...

My Problems Have Become More Interesting

Image
Many of my problems seem just like problems in the past, but now I can see so much more going on in the them.   I've become aware of more dimensions to the problem.  As a matter of fact, the more I step toward Context, the richer the stews and the jams I find myself in. So how about this for a name for the nameless One--often called, God-- "Context." Yeah, think of God as Context. "In the beginning was Context  and Context was with God and Context was God. Everything lives in a context, so you see,.........you can't ever really be late. Context is happy to greet and support you wherever you decide to show up. Sounds like the kind of God I could be-live in. Oh....I already am--Oh, yeah, I forget, There's no escape from context. It's a good thing it's infinite. "But wait! If context is infinite, where exactly am I?"  you rightly ask. I guess if you're part of an infinite context, you don't actually end anywhe...

The Joke's on Fear

Image
Fear makes life/things much more serious than they actually are. Think about all the fears that drive so much human behavior.  Any time there's anger, guilt, paranoia, denial, self-sabotage...even cynicism--it's just fear pointing to the potential for pain and loss in a way that practically shuts off the laugh-at-yourself mechanism. Trust me on this--laughter is so happy and delighted when it gets to come out.  So when the ol' meany "fear-dumb" comes along and shouts at you with all the horrible things that could happen if you don't chase them off with "fear itself" in its numerous disguises--hostility, recrimination, grievance, unforgiveness, blame, shame, etc.--things get way more serious than needed.  BTW: That's how fear keeps itself employed. Now, don't get me wrong. That adrenalin-kick-in-the-butt stimulus in the face of present danger, like if you are about to get eaten or blown up, or balled out is vital to our survival.  But ...

What is the within?

Image
(We hear the announcer)  "The realm of ever expanding ecstatic consciousness is within.  Call now and find out how you can have your own inner realm, where you can bring all your most loving and spiritual memories. Not only does it receive as many as you can stuff into it, (kinda like a big pajama party) but the really cool thing about it is the more folks you share your inner realm with, the larger it gets. In your inner realm you won't be able to distinguish between play and work.  Activities are just part of a spiral of ever expanding arching circles that never close as they make their way throughout infinity--picking up and gathering experience to itself-- like snow balls becoming snow mountains. That's right --your inner realm has direct access to infinity where you will find friendly souls eager to greet you, problems to challenge your creativity, and surprises that bear somewhat of a resemblance to earthly orgasms. "What's the difference between i...
